The Mighty Portability

This might have come sooner than I expected. Just can’t stop the urge to try out this thing with my own hands, at the comfort of my home.

Now, how does it measure (literally, in size) against my current laptop, the 15.4″ HP Pavilion:

Eee PC vs. HP Pavilion

Asus Eee vs. HP Pavilion

More pictures here.

Now, who thinks I still need a MacBook? :D

I have one problem though. I’m subscribed with Zpdee, the internet service of Sky Cable, and I’m using the network cable to connect to the internet as I don’t have a wireless router yet. Connecting the Asus Eee PC using the same network cable, I just can’t seem to successfully connect to the internet. I was googling for solutions and visited forums but I can’t find any answer. Any help on this will be highly appreciated.

  1. Cool new toy! Is this the first time for you to use Linux or Ubuntu? I suggest you register in the Ubuntu forums. If you can’t find an answer to your question, you can post one and wait for an answer from one of the members or moderators.

That’s how I learned and was able to fix many issues I had when I used Ubuntu last time. :)

  2. Thanks Jaypee, I have used Ubuntu but the live CD only. I guess I just have to try out Xandros first.

Regarding the problem with the internet, I bought a wireless router from CD-R King already, so that’s not much of a problem.

I’m actually on a lookout for a cheap laptop to install Ubuntu. I still need a laptop to run Windows because of certain applications that runs only on Windows.

  4. Hey Markku, you say it so. I have no experience with the macbook. But the Eee will surely be a winner when it comes to functionality/portability/and price! :D
