At the rate at which the current Boston Celtics is going (29-3, or 90.6% winning percentage), it is very much likely that it will beat Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls record of 72-10 (72 wins and 10 losses, 87.8% winning percentage) in 95-96 season.

Boston Celtics

Let’s start out a discussion. Have the Celtics been that good with their three superstars in the person of Ray Allen, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett?

How would you compare the Allen-Pierce-Garnett trio vs. Jordan-Pippen-Rodman(?)? Can the Boston Celtics live up to the fans’ expectations? If ever the Celtics could pull down the Bulls’ record, can they be able to successfully snatch the crown from powerhouse Spurs?

Let’s also compare individual stats:

Too early to say but as long as there will be no major injuries or suspensions for the Allen-Pierce-Garnett trio and a consistent game, I think there will be a possibility of tying or even surpassing what the Jordan-Pippen-Rodman trio achieved in 95-96 season. Big question still looms about who will be the true leader of the team as what Jordan did to Chicago. Maybe Pierce, maybe Allen, maybe Garnett. Pierce still leads the team in scoring. Followed by Garnett and then Allen. As for the moment only the trio averages in double digits or more for the team.

Interesting post! I agree with some of Franz’s points especially the injury part. As long as the three superstars don’t get injured, they have a very strong chance of tying or beating that record but if you ask me, I don’t think they can. They just got beat by the Bobcats and that team is not even a strong team. I think they’ll definitely do well this season and might make it to the Finals but winning the big kahuna is still a question mark. They’ll have to win and work as a team on a consistent basis. :)
